Fremont Elite Autoworks: A Body Shop Rebuilt One Customer at a Time
Fremont Elite Autoworks opened in May 2023 in a building nobody else wanted. This is how Jaz turned it around.
From a dealership body shop to his own
Before Fremont Elite, Jaz spent about three and a half years at a Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership that had its own body shop under the same owner. He got a close look at how a body shop actually runs: the books, the equipment, the math behind a profitable repair. He helped turn that location around.
What stuck with him wasn't the numbers. When the shop started getting busier, the change came from new people at the front counter and a better experience for every customer who walked in.
“It mostly comes down to the way you treat people and what kind of experience somebody has when they come in.”
JAZ, OWNER
While still at the dealership, he bought a tiny mechanic shop on Dusterberry Way, right across the street from the Fremont DMV. It had three lifts and a few small garages. It didn't take long to realize he needed far more room for what he wanted to build.
Taking a chance on Albrae Street
The timing lined up. The owners of the Dusterberry property decided to sell, and at the same moment this shop in Fremont's industrial area came up for sale. Jaz had already looked at about seven shops. Something about this one felt right: a location in the heart of Fremont, a short drive from I-880.
The building needed everything. The previous business had left it packed with junk, pests had moved in, and the equipment was in bad shape. Jaz put every penny he'd saved into buying it, then spent the first six months cleaning house: new equipment, a cleaned-up lobby, and a clean break from the shop's old reputation.

The paint booth today. The first six months went into replacing equipment and rebuilding the shop.
The hardest months, and the rule that got us through
Buying a shop with a bad reputation meant inheriting it. For three to four months there were almost no new jobs and nobody coming in for quotes. Jaz calls it the hardest stretch of owning a shop.
He made one decision that shaped everything since: no paid Google ads and no paid Yelp ads. He wanted a real clientele, people who knew the shop for how it actually treats customers. First it was word of mouth, then reviews, and now people find us online and swing by.
You can see it in what customers write. They mention that Jaz explained the repair in detail, that the team kept them updated, that the price was fair after quoting other shops, and that the crew was still working at night to meet them at pickup.
What we do, and what we don't
- Insurance collision repair: our main work. We coordinate directly with your adjuster.
- European specialists: certified for Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Porsche collision repair. We repair every other make too.
- Paint matching: the thing customers mention most. See paint and color matching.
- ADAS calibration and EV tools in house. Read why calibration matters.
- Auto glass: through our sister company, with two certified glass technicians.
- Towing after an accident: we'll get your car to the shop.
- A/C, batteries, suspension and steering repair.
- Not in house: engine and transmission rebuilds, timing belts and check-engine diagnostics. Wheel alignment is done by a partner company, and tire mounting and balancing is coming soon.
