Most headlight systems are simple on the surface: turn the switch and they come on. Underneath, many newer vehicles use automatic headlamp systems with light sensors, auto high beams, adaptive lamps that swivel with steering, and LED or HID light sources with their own drivers and ballasts.
Whether your car has halogen bulbs or a full LED system, we can find out why a light is out, dim or flickering and repair it correctly.
Headlight problems we fix
- A headlight, low beam or high beam that is out
- Cloudy or yellowed lenses that scatter light
- Lights aimed too low, too high or into oncoming traffic
- Flickering HID or LED lamps
- Automatic headlights or auto high beams that no longer switch correctly
What our headlight service includes
We check bulbs, fuses, relays, switches, grounds and connectors, and for HID and LED systems we test the ballast or driver module. Lens restoration removes the oxidized outer layer and reseals the surface. After any headlight work, we check aim so the beam lights the road without blinding oncoming drivers.
If a housing is cracked or has moisture inside, we will show you and discuss whether it can be resealed or needs replacement.
Driving in Concord and Contra Costa County
California sun is tough on polycarbonate headlight lenses, which is why cloudy, yellowed headlights are so common on cars that are parked outdoors in Contra Costa County. Restoration can make a noticeable difference in night visibility.
Questions about headlamps
Should I replace headlight bulbs in pairs?
It is usually a good idea. Bulbs dim with age, and replacing both keeps the light output and color even.
Does headlight restoration last?
A proper restoration includes a protective coating, which helps it last much longer than a quick polish.
